Updating/Upgrading Proxmox VE Guide in Web GUI
Proxmox offers both a subscription-based repository for commercial users and a no-subscription repository for the community. While the subscription-based repository provides certified updates and technical support, you can still access updates without a subscription by configuring your server to use the no-subscription repository.
Let's Begin.
My setup
Proxmox Version - 8.2.2
Update the Repository List
Update the Repository List to Use No-Subscription Repository
- Navigate to Repositories under your node, Updates– >Repositories
- Press Add and Ignore "No valid subscription message". Under the dropdown for Repository, select No-Subscription and click Add
The default Proxmox configuration uses the enterprise repository, which requires a subscription. You’ll need to replace this with the no-subscription repository.
- Disable the enterprise repositories as you won't be able to use them unless you have an appropriate license.
- Navigate to Updates Menu
Update and Upgrade Your System
- Click the Refresh button and you will see it will fetch the latest updates. It should look like the below
- Close the small window and then click on the Upgrade button at the very top. A window will open, prompting you to Upgrade. Enter "Y" to proceed.
- Once complete, it should show you the system has been upgraded
You may get a prompt to restart as seen below.
